After then President Trump advocated for people to attack our nation’s capitol, and to take part in an insurrection to overthrow a legitimate election, the Democrats and the left-leaning media rightly laid the blame on then President Trump and his cronies. The House impeached Trump a second time, and endless news stories from the Times, CNN, the Post, and every left-leaning news organization blasted Trump, referencing his incitement to violence.
This week, Rep. Maxine Waters did the same. She appeared to advocate for violence in her rhetoric if the outcome of a legitimate judicial process does not go the way she (and perhaps most of the country) wants. Where is the media now? Why is no one condemning Waters for her rhetoric ? Why is there no House inquiry?
For example, today’s CNN headline (picture below) is that Waters’ comments expose Republican hypocrisy. This is absurdity upon irony upon hypocrisy. So here, the left argues that the right are hypocrites for complaining that Waters is inciting violence, but the left are not hypocrites? How does that make any sense? They both are hypocrites. If the left was truly concerned about the rule of law, then they would condemn Waters’ comments as much as Trump’s. If the right was concerned about the rule of law, especially Fox “news” and that ridiculous cast of characters, they would also condemn Trump as much as Waters.
To be clear, in my view, it is impossible for any sane, reasonable, or honest person to come to any other conclusion than Chauvin murdering George Floyd. The video is excruciating to watch in its completeness, displaying both Chauvin’s intent and his indifference to Floyd’s suffering and his very life. Chauvin murdered George Floyd in my view. All those who believe in the sanctity of human life, truth, and the law appear to agree on this. Nevertheless, we are a nation of laws, and a jury of Chauvin’s peers must come to this conclusion as well. If we disregard their decision, then we must disregard all jury decisions, and our entire system of justice.
CNN and Fox are basically the same thing; they spew utter garbage. The media is a for-profit enterprise, focused on revenue, and feeding what their consumers want. Truth is not required. The left and right are concerned more about themselves and their personal career success and personal gains and interests than they are about our country and people.
Let us hope for a honest verdict, that justice is served for George Floyd, that Chauvin is found guilty and sentenced for murder so the public can begin to regain even a little confidence in our system, that the police learn from this, change their policies, retrain all of their officers, and the at the same the public support them as much as we demand they be accountable for their actions; that the public remains active in a positive way, without violence or looting, but instead engages in the political process, dialogue, political action, and voting, and holds both the media and public officials accountable.
But let’s not pretend there is any difference in corrupt, illegal, dishonest or hypocritical behaviors by the left and right. Cuomo, Trump, Waters, Gaetz, and the list goes on… the left and right both need a cleaning of house and new leadership and only we, the people, can do that.
